Young children’s programs are designed for children in preschool through fifth grade.
Children’s Chapel: Offered each Sunday, the children leave the worship service to attend their own service in the Children’s Chapel. They pray and sing together, listen to the same gospel story that their parents are hearing, “wonder” about the story, and respond to it through arts, drama, or other creative means. The children then return to the service in the sanctuary.
Mini VBS (Vacation Bible School): On six Saturdays throughout the program year, young children gather from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. to explore a biblical story or topic through storytelling, music, crafts, and games. Read more.
Community Vacation Bible School: Several churches in Rocky Mount pool their resources to offer the traditional summer Vacation Bible School. Good Shepherd is well represented with participating youth and adult volunteers.
Christmas Pageant: All youth, from one of the newest babies in our church family to our high schoolers, participate in the telling of the birth of Christ, offering another way to reach them and teach them of the significance of this event.
Day School/Church Interaction: The Day School children attend chapel once a week and have a music program weekly with Mr. Lawrence (Goering), our Organist and Choir Director. Day School families are also invited to participate in many of the church’s Christian Education and Parish Life programs of the church, such as Vacation Bible School and Lenten dinners.
